Tiling Victoria Floorex
Your floor might seem like the least noticed part of your home or business. After all, all it does is get walked on and covered with furniture! A floor can actually have a huge impact on both the appearance and functionality of a space, however. Lush carpet can turn a cold room into a warm and cozy sanctuary. Hardwood floors can give a room a classic look, while high quality vinyl flooring can give nearly the same appearance with much less maintenance. Tile is a favorite in bathrooms and kitchens due to how easy it is to clean (not to mention its water resistance).
Not every floor is right for every space or every style, however. If your bathroom is stuck in the 1980’s and covered in carpet, it might be time for a home renovation. While that might sound like a major undertaking, we make it easy at Tiling Victoria. We are experts at installing tile, carpet, solid hardwood, and many other types of flooring. From bathroom renovations to whole home flooring upgrades, we take all of the work out of remodeling.
Our flooring and tiling services aren’t just for residential properties, either. If the dingy old carpet in your business is contributing to your employees’ allergy troubles, we can replace it with durable and easy-to-clean vinyl. Products in showrooms look more attractive when the floor beneath them matches their shine, and clients feel more confident in your abilities when the floor beneath them doesn’t creak as they walk to your office. Whatever your flooring needs, give our experts a call today. No showroom is too big and no apartment is too small to have a great looking floor!
While most of us recognize the need for professional carpet installation (very few of us own a carpet stretcher, after all), tile and laminate floors can be prime candidates for DIY projects. Perhaps you even stumbled across our website while searching for discount flooring in Victoria and are wondering why you should pay someone to do what you can probably do yourself.
While it is true that some types of flooring do not require any special skills to install (some are even advertised as being simple to snap together!), we believe there are several good reasons to trust your floor to a professional. Here are just a few of those reasons:
We offer a full range of flooring services in Victoria, Sooke, Colwood and Langford Whether you need carpet installed, need your hardwood floors refurbished, or just have questions about your kitchen floor options, we are here to help. Feel free to give us a call with any flooring related need you might have, or keep reading for an overview of our most common services.
For many homeowners, the warmth and softness of carpet is a must in bedrooms and family rooms. It also requires a good deal of technical knowledge and skill to install correctly. Precise measurements, special tools, and proper seaming technique are all required for smooth, securely fastened carpet.
Our installation process begins with preparing the subfloor. First the old carpet is removed and responsibly disposed of, and the bare floor is thoroughly cleaned. Baseboards are removed if needed, and tack strips are installed or replaced as appropriate. Once the floor is ready, padding can be measured, cut, seamed, and glued or stapled in place.
Then comes the tricky part - perfectly measuring, cutting, and securing the carpet so that there are no gaps, bubbles, or areas that are too loose or too taut. After securing the first wall, the carpet is stretched to the other walls with these same considerations in mind and secured to the tack strips. Once all carpet is installed and seamed, its edges are sealed and transition strips are installed anywhere that the carpet meets another type of flooring.
Though this sounds like a lot of steps, our installers can finish most jobs in one day. Then all that is left is for you to sit down, run your fingers through your new carpet, and relax!
Floor tile is often a major part of any Victoria bathroom remodel or kitchen renovation. Tile doesn’t have to be reserved for these areas, though - many homeowners opt for tile in their whole home for allergy or ease of cleaning reasons, and businesses love the luxurious look it gives their space while still being long lasting and easy to maintain.
Our tiling services include removing the old flooring and cleaning the subfloor, taking precise measurements and making precise cuts, and installing and grouting the seams with the same precision and attention to detail. Once the grout dries, your new tile will be a nearly indestructible surface for many years!
While its ability to be easily swept and mopped is one of its many advantages, tile does need a deep cleaning every so often. Grout is an especially easy place for dirt and spilled liquids to get stuck due to its porousness. If your tile and grout have dulled in color over the years, our cleaning services can restore their original shine!
Hardwood floors have been the standard in high-end home flooring for centuries. The rich colors and natural wood grains give any room an elegant and inviting appearance. Hardwood comes in many types, and each type requires a slightly different installation method. The method used is also partly determined by the type of subfloor you have.
When choosing hardwood flooring, it is important to note that there is an acclimation period required to ensure that planks do not bow, expand, or shrink beyond what is expected after installation. After receiving your new flooring, expect to wait at least five days before installation. After this acclimation period, we can install most projects in a single day, and many hardwood floors can be walked on as soon as six hours after installation!
Due to the nature of wood, every hardwood floor will dull and scratch over time. Fortunately, wood is also able to be restored, and most blemishes can be filled in or removed. Whether you want to upgrade your home with hardwood or need your existing hardwood refinished, give us a call today!
Vinyl plank flooring is extremely versatile. It is water resistant, easy to maintain, and incredibly durable. It can also be installed directly over many other flooring types, eliminating the need to chip out tile or remove the existing wood floor. It can even be used outdoors in some situations!
Vinyl planks are fairly easy to install, but precise measurements and cuts are still necessary. Like hardwood, vinyl must also be acclimated to your room before it is installed (though generally for less time). If you need a highly durable floor whose beauty will stand the test of time, call us today to discuss your options for vinyl flooring in Victoria.
Though it is very similar to vinyl in color options and installation, many people choose laminate flooring for its affordability. A hybrid of wood and synthetic materials, laminate floors lack the moisture resistance of vinyl and the restorability of hardwood while emulating most of the other desirable qualities of both.
Due to its low cost, ease of maintenance, and durability, laminate is a very popular commercial flooring in Victoria. It also allows you to return to your space almost immediately after installation. If vinyl is out of your price range or is just not necessary for the way you use a particular room, call us to see if laminate flooring is the affordable and attractive solution for your home or business.
For those who want the look of hardwood without the price tag that solid hardwood flooring comes with, engineered wood flooring is a great option. Engineered wood is made by bonding a thin strip of solid wood to a high-quality plywood base. This gives engineered wood the exact same surface as solid hardwood while reducing its cost and increasing its stability and versatility.
Engineered wood is installed much like hardwood, and it can also be repaired and refinished much like hardwood. Unlike hardwood, however, engineered wood can only be refinished once or maybe twice before you wear through the top layer of solid wood. This doesn’t mean it is a temporary floor covering, though - engineered wood, when properly installed and maintained, will last for twenty or thirty years!
One of the most frequent questions we hear when discussing a flooring project is, “Can you install flooring on my stairs as well?” The answer is a resounding, “Yes!” Carpet, wood, laminate, and even tile can be installed on a staircase. It just takes a little extra time, a few extra cuts, and a little extra know-how. Don’t overlook your stairs during a floor remodel because you think they will require too much effort; let our experts help you make your stairs look just as great as the rest of your floors!
Sometimes the mass-produced flooring options you find at our local flooring stores just don’t fit your vision for a particular area. Of course not! While floor tile is our most commonly requested tiling task, we can install tile just about anywhere you want it (as long as there is sufficient structure to hold it).
Some of the common projects we do are tile fireplace surrounds, tile tub surrounds and shower walls, tile backsplashes, and tile walls and floors for steam rooms.
Tile is a great option for any surface that is often exposed to moisture, so we are happy to help you install it on any wall, floor, or even furniture piece where both its appearance and its functionality can shine.
That depends (at least a little bit) on what type of flooring we are installing. For most floor types, 24 to 48 hours is recommended. If you're not sure, play it safe and wait a couple days before using the room unless absolutely necessary.
There are a few exceptions to this guideline: carpet floors, even though they use adhesives, can actually benefit from light foot traffic after installation. Gentle weight helps to press the padding into the adhesive, making it more secure. Heavy furniture is still not advised for at least 24 hours, however.
The other exception is floating floors. Because no adhesives are used on floating floors, it is safe to walk on them immediately after installation.
After we finish an installation, we will give you guidelines on when and how you should use your new floor until it fully cures. If you need guidance on this before installation so you can plan and prepare, just ask us!
As a general rule of thumb, our two-man crews can install between 800 and 1,000 SF of flooring in one work day. Please keep in mind, however that this does not include extensive prep work or complicated designs and layouts. There are also other factors to consider, such as the time it takes for plank flooring to acclimate before installation can begin.
Before we begin a project, we will give you an estimate of the total working time we will require. Though things do occasionally increase this time, we do everything in our power to complete each project within the time frame we quoted you!
The best type of flooring for any particular home or business depends on how you use the space, your style, and your budget.
Tile is the best option for moist areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements due to its moisture resistance. Carpet is great for playrooms and bedrooms, while vinyl planks are great for high traffic areas.
Your budget makes a big differnce as well - hardwood, though classic and sophisticated, comes with a high price tag. You can get a similar look for much less with laminate or engineered wood, however.
When it comes to style, only you can decide what you want your floors to look like! Each flooring option has many aesthetic options, so if you don't know where to start, we recommend a trip to your local home improvement store or browsing the internet for inspiration. Make note of the options that catch your eye, then filter them through the above two criteria to find the best type of flooring for you!
